THE MAGNIFICENT GUIDES

Safety Amidst the Dangers of the Climb
Near St John’s peak - 13,100 feet.

"Berapa tinggi pokok pinang, tinggi lagi gunung ledang, berapa tinggi asap api, tinggi lagi harap hati."

The Excellent Malims

The Mountain Guides (Malims) of Kinabalu are nothing short of excellent in taking us through the mountain. They are all trained and primed for assistance. It is such a privilege to be able to have them walk with us on Tan Sri Azman Hashim’s climb up Mt Kunabalu.

Safety Amidst the Dangers of the Climb

Their guiding skills are second to none and they are all well-trained, strong and stable. Very often, the safety of climbers are in their hands. They can carry huge loads and still excel in their guiding duties.

On our climb, the Malims made sure that both Tan Sri Azman Hashim and I were safe in our ascent and descent of Mt Kinabalu. They are definitely a credit to their profession.

"Listen to the Wind
It talks
Listen to the silence
It speaks
Listen to your heart
It knows."
