THE START - HANDLING THE DOUBTS

We may never live like this again!

"We may never live like this again!"

Taking the First Steps of the Climb

We are at the starting point – Timpohon Gate. The stark reality of the climb looms ahead in the form of that huge granite massif that is Mt Kinabalu.

Relief That We Finally Started

The first steps are taken and we start by walking down the only real steps of descent as we start climbing the mountain. The weather forecast says rain and thunder storms in the afternoon. We are relieved that we have finally started.

Looking at Small ‘Bites

We have prepared for it. We are certainly not thinking of the summit at this first stage of the climb. Timpohon is only 6,188 feet high. There is still more than 7,200 feet to traverse.

Reaching Kondis, the First Shelter

We are looking to reach Pondok Kondis, the first shelter. We are walking through cloudy mossy forest and the time is 8.55 am.

At Panar Laban.

Why Would Anyone Want to Climb a High Mountain?

The question begs the same answer as to why anyone would want to build a big successful organisation. We are all motivated by the challenge of competition, contention and conquest.

There is no bigger happiness than to know you have earned your right to be at the summit - 13,435 feet.
Last sign port.
Long and lonely road.
Pure joy found at the summit - 13,435 feet.
Friends on a mission - 13,435 feet.
